Really nice place for lunch, dinner or drinks in between! This hidden paradise serves some of the best Italian food I’ve had in Kenya and I’m spoiled when it comes to Italian food. There’s usually not a lot of people here, so it might take a minute or two to fire up the oven, but every minute is worth it. Aside from the restaurant the bar is really nice and the bar keeper / owner proves their taste by the variety of drinks they have. Don’t get discouraged if this place looks closed when you park here, walk through the garden and you will find it. Lastly: staff here is very attentive, happy to help with whatever you need. Come here if you’re in town (or somewhere else at the coast, just come here).

Y U P P I D U - Yuppidu Bar Ristorante & Pizzeria Msambweni An Italian restaurant south of #DianiBeach in Msambweni, offering regional classics alongside house specialities. The interior designers created a space inspired by the Swahili culture. Kanga and Leso pillows and white washed furniture leaving the Lamu effect blends in very well in the open space. The menu kicks off with Kshs 50 Kachumbari salad options, to some sea food platter that cost Ksh 1,200. Chef Mbathi and team have their authentic Italian pizzas at Kshs 800. I chose the Kachumbari salad with box orange juice, white rice and kachumbari salad which came to slightly under Kshs 1,000 for the lunch option.

Quiet, food is made from scratch so took about 45mins but it was a calming quiet atnosphere so we drank some wine while we waited. There are no cocktails but drinks are very fairly priced with a shot of Johnnie Walker green label going for kes 400. There were only 2 groups of guests at the restaurant, like just 4 pple in total, so it was pretty quiet and just some light music playing in the background. Road there was all good and the last stretch to the restaurant was recently recarpeted so all cars are good to go. But note that the drop from the main road tarmac to the 100m stretch that goes to the restaurant is alittle steep and low cars may scratch their samp guard. We had taffi and rice and some snapper fillet and it was delicious. Only advice, dont go there in a rush, relax and soak it in.
